The Importance of Biblical and Not Cultural Interpretation

We continue our Communications of the King series and with-it Jesus’ Sermon on the Mt. We pick up from last week with Matthew 5:17 and work through Jesus’ “you have heard it said” statements. Jesus teaching at the Sermon on the Mount is regarding true discipleship and how it requires the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Jesus here in our text this week emphasizes the importance of interpreting God's Word correctly, rather than through the lens of oral traditions and cultural norms.
