1 Thessalonians 5
We pealed back the relation of Paul’s writing on Christ’s return for His Church and Christ’s second coming in 1 Thessalonians 5 and its relation to Jesus own words in Matthew 24. Paul was emphatic on the importance of the imminent return of Jesus Christ, encouraging Christians to live in anticipation and readiness for this event regardless of the culture or situations around them, the importance of sanctification, and living a life that reflects the transformative power of the Holy Spirit. We looked at the importance of understanding scripture in its cultural and historical context, the circulatory nature of apostolic letters, and the linkage with the Book of Acts.
Paul continues in chapter 5 discussing the significance of sanctification, the role of the Holy Spirit, discerning times and seasons, discerning and testing prophecy, not quenching the Holy Spirit, and principles for Christian living. Paul also gives practical advice on how to behave as believers, including comforting and edifying one another, the responsibilities of Christian leadership, and recognizing the roles within the church. Carrollton Christian Fellowship stands with Scriptures overwhelming focus and direction for a pre-tribulation rapture and Paul’s call for continuous spiritual growth and readiness for Christ's return.
