Genesis 8-9
Our study from Genesis chapters 8 and 9 this week we discuss the biblical narrative of man’s obedient and rebellious responses to God following the flood, discussing the effects of sin, God's response to sin, the obedient and rebellious responses of humans, and God's redemptive plan post-flood; drawing parallels with the Book of Esther and God’s work during the flood, where God's work is perceived despite His silence.. Our study together outlines God's redemptive plan and its execution through Noah and his family. Our study includes Noah's faith, patience, and obedience as he trusts God's timing and distinction between God's eternal love and the temporary allure of sin.
Important themes include the significance of God's promises, the power of trust in God's plan, and the importance of fellowship and support within the Christian community, and the continuous commitment to God's values over cultural ones. Our study also delves into post-flood life as described in Genesis 9, God's covenant with creation, life's purpose after judgment, and an appeal to continue in faith, patience, and prayer to trust in God's timing which strengthens us to avoid premature actions based on immediate perceptions. We conclude our study with a reflection on humanity's continual struggle between obedience to God and yielding to rebellion.
