Intro to 1 Kings

King Solomon like many of the kings who followed him compromised spiritually by the company they kept, and none were more truer of the slippery slope of compromise than who they had married. Solomon and many of the kings after him had compromised in their relationship with obeying the Lord by marrying wives who held little or no regard for the God of Israel, and in return it lead their hearts away from following the Lord. We also see different confidants of the kings who didn't place a high importance on the Word of the Lord who would end up straying the kings hearts away from seeking God for His council in matters.
