Matthew 8 introduces us to a new sermon series, Credentials of the King. This series of our will stretch from chapters 8-10 of the Gospel of Matthew. The emphasis of Matthew 8:1-22 from our study is on understanding the healing power and credentials of Jesus Christ, and how these apply to our everyday lives through the Holy Spirit. Our study explores different miracles performed by Jesus, addressing a leper, the centurion’s servant, Peter’s mother-in-law, and many others who were healed. Key themes include Jesus's authority, the various types of healing, the importance of faith, and the cost of following Him. With this study as any time we study the Word, we need to be open to and push forward into self-examination of our own lives as well as the culture of Christianity we are choosing to follow, is it Biblical or cultural Christianity. As believers we are called to focus on biblical truths and the personal relationship with Jesus through the truths of Scripture. The most important thing for every Christian is to follow Jesus and understand the cost of following Him.
